HIS COMPASSION
Scene 1
'How can a believer commit such abomination?'
his face was hot and his eyes red with righteous indignition. The object of the discussion was another brother who had fallen into the sin of fornication.

He wasnt 'swimming' or even 'basking' in sin, it was a terrible mistake he'd made by being ignorant of the devices of satan and failing to put boundaries in place. He was crushed and had gone to 'report' himself and word somehow got out.
So this our other brother was raving and ranting about 'holiness' not understanding that the very fact that he was still standing was not because he was some super hero but purely a function of grace. If he understood grace it would have made him humble.
I could never forget his words, they were righteous, but reflected a mean and unforgiving disposition...and I wondered, 'why do we christians sometimes find it harder to forgive than God?'
The story didn't end there, it wasn't too long before the same self-righteous bro who couldn't spare his brother or even make a tiny attempt to restore him was caught in the same compromising situation. He lost his finances, lost his health and was almost loosing his life before he cried out to God for mercy.
I guess its easy to preach holiness and deny others mercy and forgiveness until you find your self in the same ditch.

Scene 2
Darlene was her name but everyone called her 'Darling.' She was a club girl. Despite the fact that she grew up in a very privileged environment she was bent on being tagged 'the black sheep' of the family and living above her father's rules and regulations.
As soon as she gained admission into the university she turned her new found freedom into an opportunity to explore everything she had been forbidden from. Sex,booze, parties, drugs, clubs, female cults, more sex. She experimented with it everything and for a while it was a very fun party. She did everything in school except study.

Everyone knew her. The average born again christian in her class saw her as a lost course and never bothered to share Christ with her one on one. But there was alot of talk behind her back as per how rotten her life was and how she was possessed by the devil.
Unknown to them Darlene was just a spoilt and lost rich kid. Behind the crazy and hard exterior was a little girl that knew she had lost her way. If it were easy she could have turned around and made her way home but she couldn't. She was in the firm grip of dark spirits and they weren't going to let her off easily.
By the time they got to final year not only did she have tons of carryover courses, her HIV positive status had gone to full blown AIDS. she couldn't hide anymore.
She skipped school , lost all her flashy friends and lay dying in the hospital. Alot of people especially morally upright and the born again Christians heard the news and were kind of vindicated and justified. It was a comeuppance that was inevitable for such a wayward one. Afterall sin has its consequences, isn't the wages of sin is death?
The party was over for Darlene.

Scene 3
Jesus came for the sick and the lost. He came for those who needed a doctor so He hung around with the sick alot. He came for the broken so He hung around the sinners of His day alot. So much the Religious leaders and teachers of His day tagged him 'a wine bibber, a glutton , a friend of publicans and sinners'. He let them touch Him, He let women with questionable character wash His feet and anoint Him. He didn't care if any of them was named Stephanie Otobo. He loved , He lived to love the sinner.
Many times they sought to trap Him with the law that Moses brought , but Jesus introduced a higher dimension...Grace and Truth. '
His compassion and love came in all dimensions. It had breadth, and length, and depth, and height. A love that transcended knowledge. And because even the filthiest of sinners can recognise true love and compassion , they came to Him in droves. No one could stop them from experiencing the pure joy of His smile or the delving into the wells of liquid love that were His eyes.
He knew the world was already condemned, so He didn't come to condemn it (John 3:17)...His sole aim was to save it.

It wasn't the fear of eternal damnation that brought them to Him, no! He didn't need to scare them into heaven, not when His love could do a better and longer lasting job.
Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

When the city of Samaria rejected Him , His disciples James and John were mighty upset, 'Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?' But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. For the Son of man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.
He restored Peter. The very man that denied Him thrice. He restored Him and gave Him charge of the church . He took a serial killer named , Saul and made an apostle out of him. Are these not the works He did that He said we could do and even greater works ? Or is it only miracles that we read inbetween the lines?
Brethren, Let's love like He loved, let's love who He loved. Love is the the only thing that makes the gospel we preach valid and potent.
